The Royal Gibraltar Police have said it is aware of the video posted on facebook showing the activities of hooded individuals in a local residential building and have stressed they take a "serious view of such unacceptable behaviour and will investigate all such incidents that come to its attention".

 

Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia this morning held a positive meeting with the new UK Ambassador to the European Union Sir Tim Barrow. The Gibraltar delegation included the Attorney General Michael Llamas.

The Government of Gibraltar is looking into the events surrounding the unprecedented level of flaring witnessed at the CEPSA refinery this weekend, following what appears to have been an electrical fault. Scientists from the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Climate Change along with its expert air quality consultants are currently investigating the impacts of said flaring on Gibraltar.

Government has recently appointed David Liston as its official representative in the United States. He replaces Joe Carseni who retired from the post with effect from the end of last year.

Police have arrested four youths on suspicion of being in possession of a Firearm, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. The arrests took place in the afternoon of the 26th January and followed reports to the Police control room that individuals in a car had allegedly pointed a firearm at members of the public as they drove past.

Minister for Health, Care and Justice, Neil Costa, met for the first time yesterday with the newly restructured executive Child Protection Committee. The meeting was chaired by Natalie Tavares, CEO of the Care Agency.

The next in the series of Museum Lectures will be held this Thursday 26th January at 7pm at the John Mackintosh Hall. Speakers Clive and Stewart Finlayson will be talking on the subject of climate change in Gibraltar with particular reference to birds and the information that they can give us.

The Chief Minister, the Hon Fabian Picardo QC MP, has been invited to attend before the European Parliament's Select Committee Constitutional Affairs, known as the "AFCO Committee". The invitation is for the morning of next Monday, the 30th January and is in addition to the Chief Minister's appearance before the House of Commons' BREXIT Select Committee on Wednesday of this week.

Scientists from the Gibraltar Museum recently attended the VI SECEMU bat conservation and research conference in Vairão, Portugal. The two day conference is held biannually by SECEMU, the Spanish Association for the Conservation and Study of Bats (Asociación Española para la Conservación y el Estudio de los Murciélagos) and was for the first time held outside of Spain at the CIBIO-InBIO Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources in Vairão.
