The Spanish Foreign Minister has said that Gibraltar should be excluded from the talks that the EU will hold with the United Kingdom in the event of a potential exit from the European Union. He has said that once the UK is out then Gibraltar leaves automatically and has again pointed to joint-sovereignty as the only option for Gibraltar if we want to remain within the EU.

The Government have announced that work is about to start on the new £60 million development on Quay 29, the second phase of King’s Wharf waterfront residences. The start of this work will be enabled by the full opening of the Midtown Coach and Car Park on Monday 4 July and the subsequent closure of the Queensway Car Park.

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia have held a number of political meetings in London throughout the day. This follows the EU Referendum last week in which Gibraltar voted overwhelmingly to remain.

In the light of the outcome of last week’s Referendum, the Government considers it important that people understand the procedure that exists for the withdrawal of a Member State from the European Union. The procedure confirms that it is very much a case of business as usual for a number of years to come and that therefore people should not expect any dramatic change for a considerable period of time.
