Today Monday 8th March 2021 is Commonwealth Day. This year Commonwealth Day is centered around the theme ‘delivering a common future’ between all 54 member countries and the wider number of territories of the Commonwealth.

University of Gibraltar’s PGCE students have started placements across Gibraltar’s schools this week. The students have been eager to return to the school environment and meet their new classes and colleagues following a brief spell learning online during the lockdown. This is the students’ second placement during this one-year programme. 

World Book Day will this year be celebrated and marked by Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, with several initiatives and online offerings.

'As vaccination rates rise, and as we begin to move towards a more normal life, it is important we learn whether and how we can begin to hold larger group events. These will include sports as well as cultural events.'

The Government has received representations from several owners of Gibraltar cars and motorcycles who had these vehicles impounded in Spain. Government have said a number of cases have been examined very carefully and brought to the attention of the Spanish authorities.
