The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has declared that there is no conflict between being patriotic and British and being European at the same time. He warned that the United Kingdom and Gibraltar risk a period of economic and political limbo if the result of the Referendum on 23 June is to leave the European Union. Dr Garcia was addressing the Commonwealth Forum of the National Liberal Club in London while en route to Brussels.
In an effort to raise funds in support of Mental Health Day, the Youth Service collaborated with Clubhouse Gibraltar for the second year running. The event was a great success with two cake stalls and the Youth Service DJs providing a day of entertainment on stage.
The Chief Minister leaves Gibraltar on Monday for a two day visit to Brussels where he will hold various meetings with Members of the European Parliament and senior officials at the European Commission. This visit comes at a crucial time with Britain’s EU Referendum only a month away.
On the day that the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia leave for Brussels, the Government says "it considers that it is important to highlight the fact that Gibraltar stands to receive a total of nearly 60 million euros in EU funding since the first allocation of such funds was made in 1990. This includes the current programme. A total of 75 public sector projects and 202 private sector projects in Gibraltar have benefitted from EU Structural Funds over the years. This has come about because of our membership of the European Union."

The Govt has launched a booklet which sets out the reasons why people in Gibraltar should vote to remain in the European Union in the coming referendum on 23 June. This follows the practice in the United Kingdom where the UK Government also published a booklet putting across its point of view.
