The Gibraltar Electricity Authority is pleased to announce today the arrival of the six Generating Sets for the New Power Station aboard the MV Palmerton. The arrival of the Generating Sets, each with a generating capacity of approximately 14 Mw, represents another milestone in the New Power Station project.

A group of youngsters aged between 12 and 16 who are in the forming stages of a Youth Forum met with the Minister for Youth, the Hon Steven Linares last week. The Youth Forum aims to provide participants with the opportunity to explore the social issues affecting young people in Gibraltar, and offers them a chance to express their concerns at Ministerial level, with the hope of influencing future policies.

The Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) held a series of very successful high profile events in Morocco between 28th November and 1st December. The GTB held three tourism road shows in Marrakech, Casablanca and Tangier welcoming 180 travel agents and members of the press along with dignitaries from the tourism industry.

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar will donate €8,000.00 to our sister city of Funchal, Madeira, to assist in the city’s recovery and future protection capacities following the fires it suffered in August this year.

The University of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts (GAMPA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Letter of Agreement on Thursday 1st December 2016. The agreement sets out a framework for active collaboration and the sharing of resources between both organisations.

The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Commerce have jointly organised this year’s ‘Winter Party in Town’, which will take place on Saturday 3rd December at the ex-Coach Park on Queensway, beginning at 4:30pm and lasting until 11:00pm. This will follow Small Business Saturday and the Christmas late night shopping experience.

The Ministry for Infrastructure and Planning is pleased to announce that as from Thursday 1st December 2016, HMGoG will be launching a pilot Pay & Display zone at Watergardens as part of Sustainable Traffic, Transport and Parking Plan.

The Ministry of Health, Care and Justice and the Gibraltar Health Authority are pleased to announce the introduction of a new protocol and the setting up of a Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service (‘PALS’). The staff at PALS will act as intermediaries to hospital and clinical staff in order to assist patients and their families.

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar will now be implementing its plans to record the DNA profile of registered dogs as part of its initiative to control dog fouling in Gibraltar. Following this, it will be possible to identify the owners of dogs who foul public areas and to fine or prosecute them.

In an address to delegates at the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly in Cardiff, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has said that instead of a "hard Brexit" or a "soft Brexit" what was required was a "sensible, well managed and orderly Brexit" which was in the best interests not only of Gibraltar and Spain but also of the United Kingdom and the European Union as a whole.

The Director of European Programmes for Gibraltar, Mr Charles Collinson, has returned from a number of EU Structural Funds meetings in London last week. These include a meeting with the new Head of Unit for DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the EU Commission, Mr Nicholas Gibert-Morin.

The Gibraltar Museum is pleased to announce the next lecture in its series. This will be the first time that the Christmas Lecture will be delivered, an innovation that is hoped will become a tradition in years to come.

The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia this afternoon presented the First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones AM with a glass cut model of the Rock, during a working lunch between the Welsh Government and the visiting Gibraltar Government delegation in Cardiff. Due to an unexpected family medical emergency, the Chief Minister was unable to travel to Wales at the last minute and remains in Gibraltar.

The Gibraltar Tourist Board and the Finance Centre Department will be holding a series of high profile events in Morocco between 27th November and 1st December.

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo , and the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, are in Cardiff on an official visit at the invitation of the First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones AM. The invitation arises from a meeting between Mr Picardo and Mr Jones during the Labour Party conference in September.

A team of local firefighters from the Gibraltar Fire & Rescue Service travelled to Montgomery, Alabama to represent Gibraltar in the 25th anniversary of the World Firefighter Combat Challenge, and made it all the way to the Finals!
