The Chief Minister has said that in his capacity as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Abortion, he has written to Bishop Zammit on the subject of the consultation period in respect of the Command Paper on Abortion.

Bishop Zammit had requested a four week extension of the time period in which submissions might be made. In his reply, the Chief Minister explained that the Inter-Ministerial Committee had considered the Bishop’s request and had agreed to grant a further four weeks for the relevant consultation.

As a consequence of this extension, the Government has confirmed that the closing date for submissions is now Friday 23 November. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the important discussion should submit their views before this date.
