Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Garcia have expressed their sympathies following Wednesday’s atrocity in Westminster.

'Over the last few days we have been in several buildings that were protected by Metropolitan Police Officers and we were always impressed at the courageous and public- spirited way in which they carry out their work. This time last night we were in the Palace of Westminster, indeed we were in the precise spot where this afternoon's incident took place and we may well have been protected by officers who were involved today. We wish to place on record that our prayers are with the families of those who have been killed or injured and that we really are thinking of them at this terrible time.

Our thoughts also go out to families and friends of the innocent civilians who were caught up in such an appalling attack.'

The GCC met on Wednesday evening with the Deputy Chief Minister present in the Situation Room at No6 and the Chief Minister joined the meeting by phone from London.
