Story telling sessions for young children at the John Mackintosh Hall Library have started this week, to a great response. The initiative promoted on social media has proved popular with the first few sessions fully subscribed in the space of 24 hours.
The scheme is being run on behalf of the Ministry of Culture by Gibraltar Cultural Services, through its Cultural Development Unit, with a group of volunteers delivering these sessions.
The move is aimed at promoting reading and a love of books at an early age, and encouraging children to visit the Library.
Although this is being organised on a trial basis, there are a variety of morning and afternoon sessions planned at different times and days, to try and cater for as many people as possible. The Library boasts a wide collection of books for children of different ages and abilities. Gibraltar Cultural Services have said it hopes the storytelling sessions are fun and interactive both for the little ones and their carers.
