The highlight of Day 3 was Jordan Gonzalez’s swim in the heats of the 50m backstroke. Jordan broke the National Record with a time of 28:19 claiming a spot in the semifinal in the evening session, where he came in 7th position.

Swimmers Jim Sanderson, Matt Savitz and Christina Linares recorded 54:57 in the 100m freestyle, 2:15:41 in the 200m fly and 31:92 in the 50m fly, respectively.

On Day 4, Athlete Jessy Franco, made his games debut by participating in two events. First up he’s in heat 8 of the 100m alongside winner Yohan Blake of Jamaica, finishing 11:04 and shortly after he and fellow athlete Jerai Torres ran in the 400m heats where Jessy gained a personal best of 48:40 and Jerai 49:40.

Day 4 finished in spectacular fashion  with Gibraltar in the final of 4x200m Freestyle. The Swim Squad lined up on the starting blocks with just four other teams, England, Australia, Scotland and Canada. Although finishing last in 5th place the quartet of Matt Savitz, Jim Sanderson, Jordan Gonzalez and Aidan Carroll swam their hearts out, with Aidan bringing the team home in at 8:15:75. 

Earlier in the day at the Optus pool Christina Linares broke yet another record when she clocked 1:01:29 finishing 4th in the 2nd heat of the 100m freestyle. Jim Sanderson and Matt Savitz swam the 100m butterfly with Matt coming home in 59:56 and Jim in 1:02:14.
