Seasonal Flu Vaccination Campaign

Seasonal Flu Vaccination Campaign

The Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) annual seasonal flu vaccination campaign will commence on Monday 5th October 2026.

As a result of manufacturing issues in the UK affecting the supply of flu vaccines (outside of the GHA’s control), this year vaccines will be offered in two phases.

The GHA will use its existing limited supply of seasonal flu vaccines in Gibraltar, while further deliveries are expected. It is anticipated that all quantities ordered will have been received in Gibraltar by the end of November.

The two-phase approach has been introduced to ensure that the safety and quality-control requirements for the vaccines are maintained, prioritising those most at risk of complications from flu without delaying the introduction of the vaccination program.

Phase 1

• All people aged 60 years and over. Appointments can be booked by calling the vaccination service.

The vaccination service telephone line, 200 66966, will become operational as from Monday 5th October from 9am to 3pm, and then Monday to Friday only.

• All people of any age who are severely immunocompromised. The GHA will contact these patients directly by telephone to offer an appointment.

If you believe you are severely immunocompromised and have not received a telephone call by Friday 16th October 2026, please contact the vaccination service on 200 66966, between 9am and 3pm

• All residents of ERS accommodation. GHA staff will offer vaccinations directly to all residents.

• All long-stay hospital patients. GHA staff will offer vaccinations directly.

GHA Mobile Health Unit

The Mobile Health Unit will initially offer flu vaccinations to people aged 60 years and over, Tuesday to Thursday, from 9 am to 1pm, at the following locations:

  1. 6th, 7th and 8th October – Outside No. 6 Convent Place
  2. 13th, 14th and 15th October – Casemates Square
  3. 20th, 21st and 22nd October – Casemates Square
  4. 27th, 28th and 29th October – Casemates Square

Any changes to the Mobile Health Unit schedule will be announced through the GHA’s social media channels.

Phase 1 is scheduled to run for approximately six weeks. However, this period may be shortened if the additional vaccine supplies required for Phase 2 arrive in Gibraltar ahead of schedule.

Phase 2 (start date to be confirmed)

Once the additional vaccine supplies are received, Phase 2 will be extended to the following eligible groups:

• People aged 50 years and over

• People with a chronic long-term health condition

• People who have significant contact with someone with a long-term health condition

• Pregnant women

• Health and social care workers

• People living in long-stay residential settings

Those eligible during Phase 2 will be able to book an appointment with the GHA or attend the Mobile Health Unit.

Children's Flu Vaccination Programme

The children's school-based seasonal flu intranasal vaccination programme is unaffected by the current vaccine supply delay and will proceed as planned.

Details are currently being finalised and will be communicated to parents through the usual channels.

Older children, or children who were unable to receive their vaccination on the day of the school vaccination programme, will be able to receive the vaccine during Phase 2 by contacting the Children’s Health Centre on 200 03351.

Additional Information

The Primary Care Centre will operate an appointment-only service for seasonal flu vaccinations.

Any further updates regarding the vaccination programme and Mobile Health Unit schedule will be shared through the GHA’s official communication channels.
