Man Charged Following Economic Crime Unit Investigation

A man has been charged with fraud and money laundering offences following an investigation by the Royal Gibraltar Police Economic Crime Unit.

59-year-old British National Peter Musitano, a resident of Manilva, Spain, has been charged with the following offences:

• One count of Fraud by Abuse of Position.

• One count of Using Criminal Property

The investigation dates back to April 2026, after a local company reported concerns that an employee had allegedly been transferring company funds into his personal bank account.

Peter Musitano was arrested on suspicion of fraud-related offences, and a protracted investigation by ECU investigators established that approximately £30,000 had been misappropriated and used by the employee.

An RGP spokesperson added,

“The case highlights our Economic Crime Unit’s continued efforts to tackle financial crime, investigating allegations of fraud and money laundering, and bringing those suspected of such offences before Gibraltar’s courts.”

Peter Musitano was charged yesterday evening and was detained overnight at New Mole House pending his appearance before the Magistrates' Court this morning.
