Filing of Tax Returns and Use of Public Counters
The Income Tax Office wishes to advise the public of the current arrangements for filing tax returns and accessing its public counter services.
As the tax return filing deadline approaches, the Income Tax Office is experiencing a high volume of enquiries at its public counters. Members of the public completing their tax return using the PDF form are therefore requested to submit their completed return by email.
To help manage demand and minimise waiting times, members of the public are kindly requested not to attend the Income Tax Office’s public counters solely for the purpose of filing a tax return. Please attend the public counter only if assistance is needed that is necessary and that cannot reasonably be provided by email or telephone, including where an individual does not have access to a personal computer.
eService
Improvements to the tax eService on gov.gi are currently being tested, with normal service expected to resume soon. Individuals who have previously submitted their tax return through the eService are encouraged to wait until the service becomes available again and to file their return electronically once normal service resumes.
In the meantime, members of the public are kindly requested to avoid attending the Income Tax Office’s public counters for completion of tax returns unless in-person assistance is necessary. This will help reduce waiting times and enable staff to prioritise support and assistance for those who genuinely require it.
The Income Tax Office thanks the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation while these improvements are being completed.
Important reminder
The PDF tax return is available to download from the Income Tax Office website (https://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/income-tax-office) and is not automatically issued or sent to individual taxpayers. If you have income assessable to tax and will be filing a PDF return, it is your responsibility to download, complete and submit it by the deadline of 30 November 2026.
There is no need to attend the Income Tax Office's public counters to obtain or complete a PDF return. Their counter service is intended primarily for those who require in-person assistance. Taxpayers who are able to complete their return independently are encouraged to do so."
