The Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of H.M. Government of Gibraltar is delighted to announce that Ben Haenow will be the international act performing at the May Day Celebrations to be held at Grand Casemates Square on Sunday 1st May 2016.

Ben Haenow is an English singer, known for winning the eleventh series of the X Factor 2014 edition were his debut single ‘Something I Need’ was released after the grand final. The single achieved the Christmas number one position on the UK Singles Chart ahead of ‘Uptown Funk’, after selling 214,000 copies in its first week. The release also became the second-fastest selling single of the 2014, behind Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know Its Christmas’.

During 2015, Haenow was contracted by Syco Music and spent several months in Los Angeles recording his self-titled album ‘Ben Haenow’ that was released in November 2015 featuring the lead single ‘Second Hand Heart’, a duet with Kelly Clarkson.

The May Day Celebrations will begin at 11am from the Square with a Family Fun Day to include live music and live performances by Mediterranean Dance School, Stylos Dance Studios, Kristian Celecia, The Kubes, Karma 13, Omnibus, Shot Break, The Undesirables 141, and the Gibraltar Youth Choir.
