Three local residents arrested following suspected Class A drug investigation

HM Customs have arrested three local residents following an operation by officers from the Flexible Anti Smuggling Team (FAST) in connection with the suspected possession and supply of Class A controlled drugs.

The operation commenced at approximately 5:55pm on Friday, 7 August 2026, when FAST officers were in the area of Devil’s Tower Road and observed two males at a bus stop adjacent to Beach View Terraces acting suspiciously.

The two males, aged 32 and 39, were stopped and searched. During the searches, officers located a number of wrappers containing substances suspected to be cocaine.

Both males were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug and intent to supply. A quantity of cash was also seized.

At approximately 6:50pm, officers executed a search warrant at a residential premises connected to one of the arrested males, a 34 year old female was at the property. 

During the search, officers recovered and seized substances suspected to be controlled drugs, cash, weighing scales and other drug related paraphernalia.

A search of a moped at the premises also resulted in officers locating an additional package containing a substance suspected to be cocaine. The female was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug and intent to supply.

At approximately 1:32am on Saturday, 8 August 2026, officers executed a further search warrant at residential premises connected to the second male arrested.

During this search, a quantity of cash was located and seized.

All three individuals were taken to New Mole House Police Station, where they were interviewed in relation to the suspected offences. They were subsequently released on bail and are required to surrender on 18 January 2027.

In total, officers seized approximately 51 grams of suspected cocaine.

The Collector of Customs, John Payas, commented: “This operation included officers from different sectors of our department. I want to commend all those involved for their vigilance and professionalism, particularly in moving quickly from street-level observation to coordinated searches.

HM Customs remains fully committed to disrupting the supply and distribution of controlled drugs in Gibraltar. These arrests send a clear message; we will pursue those involved in this trade, and we will use all the powers and resources available to us.
