Level 2 Maths Qualification Available through Gibraltar College

The Gibraltar College will once again be offering private candidates the opportunity to sit the TQUK Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics exam. This initiative was launched last year and provides the community with an alternative Level 2 qualification to the GCSE Mathematics already on offer. The next exam will be held on the 14th January 2027, with a second opportunity also available in June 2027.

A pass in the Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics qualification is widely considered equivalent to a GCSE Grade 4 (broadly equivalent to a C grade in the old grading system) and is recognised as such by many employers and further education establishments. The exam consists of one two-hour paper in two sections (30 minutes non-calculator, 90 minutes calculator). Results are usually available within three weeks of sitting the exam.

Registration for the January exam is already open and closes on the 31st October 2026. The fee for the exam is £45 and registration is carried out via the Gibraltar College’s website on:
