Inaugural GibLink event brings together Gibraltar and Marbella business communities; as Gibraltar Announces Speaker Line-Up for GibLink Manchester on Wednesday 30 September

HM Government of Gibraltar has confirmed the outstanding success of GibLink Marbella, held on Thursday 17 September at The Pool, and today announces the speaker line-up for the next event in the series, GibLink Manchester, taking place on Wednesday 30 September.

Over 160 people attended GibLink Marbella, evenly split between Gibraltar’s government and sponsor network, and The Pool’s own network of Marbella-based entrepreneurs, intermediaries and operators. This is exactly the kind of shared business conversation the GibLink series set out to create.

The evening featured two short on-stage discussions. In the first, Sam Buxton, the Gibraltar entrepreneur behind Damex, a stablecoin infrastructure and financial services firm with a European footprint and clients worldwide, was joined by Christian Rasmusson, CEO of The Pool and a driver of the Marbella 2.0 project, in conversation with Cecilia Bravo. Sam spoke about his experience building an internationally-facing tech business from Gibraltar, while Christian set out the Marbella 2.0 story and the tech corridor linking the Málaga Tech Park with the Marbella 2.0 community and the opportunity for Gibraltar to connect into that growing tech cluster.

In the second conversation, the Hon. Gemma Arias-Vasquez, Minister for Business, spoke with Ed Allison-Wright of World Trade Center Gibraltar and Ocean Village Group. Their conversation covered the Minister’s own background, to her view that the Treaty is a positive step for business, unlocking investor confidence and drawing the Gibraltar and Spanish business communities closer together. Ed spoke to the history of Ocean Village, the successful community it has built since its launch over 20 years ago, and how that community has in turn enabled business growth in the area.

Gibraltar’s first GibLink event in the UK, GibLink Manchester, will be held at The Dome, ABC Building Rooftop, 21-23 Quay St, Manchester M3 4AE, from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday 30 September. The evening opens with a short panel discussion featuring:

Ian Lees, Co-founder of Vega Comms. Named after Vega, the original North Star, Vega Comms is a digital and media agency with offices in Manchester and Gibraltar.

Alex Turner, Joint Managing Director of TheBusinessDesk.com, the leading regional business news company covering the North West, Yorkshire, and the East and West Midlands.

Grahame Jackson, Tax Partner at Hassans and Chair of the Gibraltar Association of Tax Advisors. Grahame moved to Gibraltar almost 25 years ago from the Northwest of England, and now co-hosts an international tax podcast.

The evening is set to close with remarks from the Hon. Gemma Arias-Vasquez, Minister for Business, on the Treaty between the UK and the EU on Gibraltar, followed by networking, drinks and canapés.
