DAME PRUE LEITH TO HEADLINE GIBUNCO GIBRALTAR LITERARY FESTIVAL 2026

Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), on behalf of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, is delighted to confirm that Dame Prue Leith will be headlining the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival for 2026.

Dame Prue Leith is a renowned South African and British restaurateur, broadcaster, cookery writer, novelist, chef, and former university administrator. She was a judge on BBC’s ‘Great British Menu’ for eleven years before joining Channel 4’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’, from which she retired this year after nine seasons. Her books include fiction and non-fiction works spanning novels, cookbooks and culinary guides.

Prue Leith’s latest publication ‘Being Old…and learning to love it!’ was launched in March 2026 and is a Sunday Times bestseller. In the book she explores the challenges of ageing while celebrating its humour, freedom and unexpected joys. Candid, uplifting and entertaining, it is part memoir and part reflection, filled with Prue’s trademark wit, wisdom and no-nonsense charm. With refreshing honesty, she writes about life as a modern woman in her eighties, covering love, staying active, friendship, family, fame on The Great British Bake Off, grief, assisted dying, retirement, fashion, beauty, travel and gardening.

The Angelotti Chronicles trilogy, Leith’s Cookery Bible, Life’s Too Short to Stuff a Mushroom and Bliss on Toast are among her best-known works. Dame Leith received a DBE in 2021 for services to food, broadcasting and charity.

Tickets for the Festival will be on sale as from 10am on Thursday 3rd September as from 10am at the Gibraltar Garrison Library and on Buytickets.gi
