Temporary Parking Concession for Zone 4 Permit Holders at Midtown Car Park

HM Government of Gibraltar is pleased to announce a temporary parking concession for Zone 4 Residential Parking Scheme permit holders, due to the forthcoming commencement of the proposed land reclamation works by Westview.

As a result of the construction works, a number of existing on-street parking spaces in the vicinity of Westview Park will temporarily be unavailable to facilitate the safe access and egress of construction vehicles associated with the project. Initially the parking spaces in the immediate area of the site entry/ exit will be removed to allow for the enabling works to take place. Once this is completed, then the northern 2 rows will be removed to allow for access. The total number of on street spaces will be relocated like for like.

To help minimise the impact of this loss of parking provision on residents, 55 spaces on Floor 6B of Midtown Car Park are to be made available free of charge exclusively to Zone 4 permit holders. Permit holders requiring access to the car park would need to show their valid Zone 4 permit on entry to the security post, and on exiting, they are to present the Zone 4 permit to security again. 

The temporary arrangement will come into effect from Friday 23October 2026 and will remain in place until further notice.

Eligible Zone 4 permit holders will therefore be able to use the designated spaces at Midtown Car Park without incurring the normal parking charges, providing an alternative parking facility while the construction-related restrictions remain in place.

The arrangement follows a similar temporary concession previously implemented during the Varyl Begg refurbishment works, where alternative parking provision was made available to help at Midtown to mitigate the impact of temporary parking losses on residents.

The introduction of this concession is intended to offset the reduction in on-street parking availability around Westview Park, while ensuring that residents continue to have access to alternative parking within a reasonable distance of their homes.

Residents are reminded that the concession applies only to valid Zone 4 Residential Parking Scheme permit holders and to the designated spaces on Floor 6B of Midtown Car Park.

The Government will continue to monitor parking conditions in the area throughout the construction period and will review the temporary arrangements as necessary.
