New Tree Planting at Grand Parade Car Park
HM Government of Gibraltar is pleased to advise that works to plant 15 new trees along the northern side of Grand Parade Car Park will commence on Monday 19 October 2026.
The trees will be installed in phases, with two trees being planted at a time, in order to minimise disruption to car park users and maintain the availability of parking throughout the works as far as practicable.
The project will introduce additional greenery to the area, enhancing the appearance of Grand Parade Car Park, providing shade for parked vehicles, and helping to create a more attractive and welcoming environment for pedestrians and visitors.
The planting forms part of the Government’s wider commitment to improving the public realm, enhancing urban spaces and increasing greenery throughout Gibraltar.
There will be no permanent loss of public parking spaces as a result of this project, and all parking provision will be retained once the works have been completed.
Minister for Environment and Transport, the Hon. John Cortes, said:
“Introducing more greenery into our urban environment is an important part of improving the public realm and making our shared spaces more attractive and welcoming. The planting of 15 new trees at Grand Parade Car Park will help enhance the appearance of the area while bringing additional greenery into the city centre.
We are carrying out the works in phases, planting two trees at a time, to minimise disruption to the public. Importantly, there will be no permanent loss of public parking spaces once the project is complete. This initiative demonstrates that we can continue to improve our urban spaces while maintaining essential parking provision for residents and visitors.”
