MSC Euribia Makes Inaugural Call to Gibraltar

Gibraltar welcomed MSC Euribia on Sunday 18 October 2026, marking the vessel’s inaugural call to the Rock and further strengthening Gibraltar’s relationship with MSC Cruises, one of the world’s leading cruise operators.

The impressive vessel arrived from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, France, at 07:00 hrs, carrying 5,229 passengers and 1,689 crew members, a total of 6,918 people on board.

Launched in 2023, MSC Euribia is one of the largest vessels in the MSC Cruises fleet, measuring approximately 331 metres in length, with a gross tonnage of 184,011 tonnes and a maximum passenger capacity of 6,334. The LNG-powered vessel features modern facilities, entertainment venues, restaurants and leisure amenities, reflecting the continued evolution of the global cruise industry.

To commemorate the inaugural visit, a traditional plaque exchange took place with Captain Lauro Maresca, alongside Gibraltar Tourist Board Terminal Supervisors Michelle Vella and Douglas Robles, and the vessel’s local port agents Maritima del Estrecho (Gibraltar) Ltd, recognising the occasion and the continued collaboration between Gibraltar’s tourism and maritime stakeholders.

The call provided an opportunity for passengers to explore Gibraltar’s attractions, cultural heritage, retail and hospitality offerings, contributing to the local visitor economy.

Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, the Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome MSC Euribia to Gibraltar for the first time. Inaugural calls such as this highlight Gibraltar’s continued appeal as a cruise destination and the important contribution the sector makes to our local economy. MSC Cruises remains a valued partner, and with at least eight calls already scheduled for 2027, we look forward to building on this relationship and welcoming even more visitors to experience everything Gibraltar has to offer.”
