GSLA Community Sports Leadership Award (Level 2)
The Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority (GSLA) is inviting young people aged 16 and over to take part in its upcoming Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Award, offering participants the opportunity to develop valuable leadership, coaching and organisational skills through sport.
The course provides an introduction to sports leadership within the community and is designed for young people looking to gain practical experience, build confidence and take their first steps towards future opportunities in coaching and sports leadership.
Throughout the programme, participants will develop a range of practical skills, including how to:
• Plan, lead and evaluate sporting sessions.
• Develop confidence and leadership skills through sport.
• Organise leagues and competitions.
• Lead a variety of sports, games and activities for children.
• Gain valuable practical experience for future coaching and leadership opportunities.
Importantly, the Community Sports Leadership Award (Level 2) is the minimum qualification required to apply for a Sports Leader position on the GSLA Summer Sports Programme. Undertaking this training course is a valuable stepping stone for young people interested in gaining leadership experience whilst working in sport.
Course Details
The course will take place from Monday, 26 October to Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 9:00am to 2:00pm each day.
Following the course, participants will also be required to complete an assessment, with the date to be confirmed, as well as mandatory volunteering hours (10 sessions) in order to successfully achieve the award.
The GSLA is encouraging anyone aged 16 and over who is interested in developing their leadership skills and gaining practical experience in sport to register their interest.
Places are limited, however if minimum numbers are not met the course may be cancelled/postponed.
