Gibraltar Youth Symposium: Young People Bring Their Priorities to the Minister for Youth

Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture, Tourism and Youth, the Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP met with the Youth Symposium made up of young people from the College of Further Education, Bayside, Westside, Possabilities, GAMPA, the Air Cadets and Gibraltar Youth Service users.

In the lead-up to the event, two working groups met with Gibraltar Youth Service staff to identify the issues they wished to raise and prepare presentations, which they then delivered directly to the Minister.

Participants also signed up to new working groups, to be set up shortly, which will explore these issues further, develop recommendations and take forward practical actions.

The symposium reflects the Gibraltar Youth Service’s commitment to meaningful youth participation, ensuring young people have space to be heard, access to decision-makers, and opportunities to help shape the policies and services that affect them.

Minister Santos said:

“It is important for young people to be heard and to give them the opportunity to influence decisions that affect their lives. It was inspiring to hear these young people present with confidence and engage in constructive discussions throughout the session.”

The Youth Service thanks all the young people, schools and organisations who took part.
