Gibraltar Youth Parliament

The Hon Judge Karen Ramagge Phillips GMH MP, Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament and Mr Phillip Borge McCarthy Clerk, addressed the 6th form students from Bayside, Westside, the College and Prior Park this week in connection with the Gibraltar Youth Parliament.

In her address Madam Speaker highlighted the importance of young people using their voices to engage with democratic parliamentary institutions. The Gibraltar Youth Parliament will provide a valuable platform for students to express their views, gain a deeper understanding of the work of Parliament and the importance of informed debate on matters affecting the community.

Debating as part of the Gibraltar Youth Parliament also gives our upcoming generation an opportunity to develop their confidence in public speaking and in taking part in constructive discussion.

Madam Speaker encouraged them to approach the initiative with seriousness and enthusiasm.

The Hon Judge Ramagge Phillips GMH MP expressed her thanks to the headteachers and staff at Bayside and Westside Comprehensive Schools, the Gibraltar College and Prior Park School for their support in promoting the Gibraltar Youth Parliament.
