The Deputy CM Dr Joseph Garcia is in Washington for a series of meetings with members of Congress and others on Capitol Hill. This follows the very successful visit to Gibraltar by a Congressional delegation in February.

Congressman George Holding has tabled a resolution in the House of Representatives which supports the right of the people of Gibraltar to determine their own future. This has since been supported by other Members.

Dr Garcia's work in Washington, in line with the policy of the Government, will centre on promoting closer political, cultural and economic links between Gibraltar and the United States. This strategy has already delivered results with the formation of a local branch of the American Chamber of Commerce AMCHAM as well as the recent Congressional visit to Gibraltar.
