LUNAR WALK 2011 – MINDING YOUR BOOBS AND WALNUTS
It is the time of the year again for our Lunar Walk!
And this year is a very special one indeed: on Friday 1st July Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar AND Prostate Cancer Support Gibraltar are jointly holding the fourth Lunar Walk in order to raise awareness about breast and prostate cancer and raise money for their cancer care services in Gibraltar. BCSG is thrilled to welcome PCSGG to join them in their walk in order to support and help promote them in their launch year.
The Lunar Walk starts at midnight from Casemates and this year we are very privileged to have the committee members of the PCSGG officially launch the charity walk, by cutting the ribbon, when the clock strikes twelve. This year we have a couple of treats, the Harley Davidsons from the Gibraltar Harley Davidson Club will be joining the Walk by ‘broom, broomming’ their way round the route with us. The Pipers of the Sea Scouts will also be ‘piping’ us off on our walk.
Registration is £5 and starts at 9pm on the night, so just turn up and join us. In order to raise breast and prostate awareness, please wear a 'fun' bra or bikini-top, on its own or over a t-shirt, and/or wear underpants over your shorts; if that’s all a bit ‘risqué’ for you, wear a customised, pink or blue t-shirt. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and if you like, take a torch to add to the illumination.
The 5.35 Km walk starts from Casemates, moves along Coral Road, Winston Churchill Avenue to the Airfield, follows around the perimeter of the Western end of the runway, then out into Bayside Road, past Ocean Village, Westside School, Rooke, turns left into Reclamation Road (past King’s Bastion), along Chatham Counterguard, past the Market and ends at Casemates again.
We look forward to celebrating our fourth Lunar Walk with you so please come and join us all you women, men, children and dogs; it’s your one-off experience and chance to walk on the runway, and, more importantly....to show solidarity in raising awareness and continuing the fight against breast and prostate cancer. Mind your boobs and walnuts!
