As a gift to Equality Rights Group in the run-up to Gibraltar’s first Pride celebration this coming Saturday, at Dusk, Ocean Village at 10pm, teenager Allyson Attias has donated her painting entitled ‘Hope’ on the theme of discrimination in a presentation at the John Mackintosh Hall.
Commenting on the presentation, Felix Alvarez, Equality Rights Group Chairman said ‘Allyson worked on this theme as part of an Art project. She contacted us to ask if we would accept her work. We are delighted to do so not only because of its message, but also because of the artistic quality of the work. It will take centre-stage in a new office, which the group will soon be opening as part of a walk-in service to the public.
‘It is heartening to see that more and more young people are listening to the message of human and civil rights for all. And especially that this should be expressed through our educational process in Gibraltar. Allyson’s work and gesture is a significant reflection of the increasing interest that exists in our community amongst all sectors of our people as we move towards more understanding and friendship in our society.
‘We are very heartened by and grateful to Allyson for her kind gesture - and for what she represents: progress.’
