Leo Olivero is Right!

Peter Caruana's government is one huge scandal after another.

They are now worried about teenage drinking and binging when the former Chief Minister and his GSD former government were wholly responsible for passing the Children and Young Persons (Alcohol, Tobacco and Gaming) Act 2006.

They are obviously worried that they ignored our local professionals and widespread "llanito" common sense.

They are obviously worried over the signs of anti-social behaviour which this law only serves to gently foster until the while issue potentially ignites out of control.

Their worry should have been at the time of the debate when the problem was already around in Gibraltar and not now in what is clearly a desperate attempt to get votes and avoid censorship by the electorate.

It is not only just an embarrassing u-turn.  It is the little sense of shame and accountability that this former Government has constantly displayed - "poca verguenza", "verguenza ninguna" or "cara dura" as our older generations would have rightly called it.

The public pays not just in taxes but in suffering and hardships within the family unit, tensions with the police, unruly behaviour at home and at school, nuisance in the streets and neighbourhood, in health, safety, contact with the criminal justice system, etc.

It is not simply a theoretical mistake that the former Chief Minister can theatrically wave aside like so many others in hos brilliantly choreographed comical act, lifting his left arm in a slow outward motion whilst gently hunching his shoulders and exposing a left side ironic smile, and, in mitigation, telling the public that "it is not possible to be in Government for 11years and everything right".

The truth is how could you have got it so seriously wrong after being in Government for 11 years ???

The likely answer is that Peter Caruana is an incorrigible political "offender" that shows little remorse and in this election he has been caught red handed.
