CHIEF MINISTER TALKS POLITICS WITH SACRED HEART CHILDREN

. Everything was created and crafted by the children themselves.

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has visited Sacred Heart Middle School at the invitation of Year 7 children who had been studying the 1967 Referendum as part of a school-wide local history initiative. He then took questions on the Referendum and on how the political process works in Gibraltar. Mr Picardo gave the children a unique insight into how local politics functions.
A lot of preparation went into this project with the creation of ballot boxes, rosettes, bunting and posters. The classrooms were effectively converted into polling stations. Everything was created and crafted by the children themselves.
Staff and pupils were very grateful to the Chief Minister for having taken time out of his busy schedule to visit the school and to address the children. The Chief Minister, himself a former pupil at Sacred Heart (when it was St Mary’s Middle School) told the children that they should always aspire to reach the top – in whatever they want to do.
