Reasons Why Caruana Should Not Now Vacate His Parliamentary Seat

Then and only then should he be allowed to vacate his seat, otherwise Gibraltar is being left in a state of mire.

I keep hearing comments on whether the previous CM should also now vacate his Parliamentary seat, my answer is a clear NO, for various reasons. In the first place he was legally elected and therefore responsible to the electorate and secondly more important prior to any abandonment of his seat he should be asked to quote from the Hansard’ s of the day when did he place before the House of Assembly, in those days, the following: Cordoba Agreement and/or progress report, the developing of the enhanced Airport, with a systematic progress report of the breakdown of taxpayers monies in this Capital Work. Why the Non-Colonial Constitution he sold us did not warrant a 2/3 majority approval vote? On which parliamentary vote and majority did he decide to grant Spaniards exemption from Customs and Immigration controls, more in keeping with practices at Spanish internal airports? Explain fully why the new airport agreement, which incidentally encompassed 2.5 clauses of the massive rejection by Gibraltar of the 1987 version was now relevant? And last but not least allow the Commissioner of Police to release the Civil Guard invaders without charges, by-passing the Offices of Minister of Justice, the Governor, the Attorney General and Police authority? Then and only then should he be allowed to vacate his seat, otherwise Gibraltar is being left in a state of mire.
Yours faithfully,
W.L.Chamberland.
