APES ROAMING IN THE VICINITY OF SCHOOL
apes have been spotted in rooftops around the school.
The Opposition has been informed that roaming apes in the vicinity of Notre Dame School in Laguna Estate are causing a serious problem for teachers and children. Concerned parents have told the Opposition that over the last few weeks, apes have been spotted in rooftops around the school. They also climb trees in the area around the school, have been seen in the actual school playground and hovering around the staff entrance. Whenever the apes are in the playground, the children have been unable to take their break outside. This is a prudent move because apes have been known to snatch food and crisps from children elsewhere in the past. The fact that people feed the apes, even though this is illegal, means that they have learnt to recognise that food comes in wrappers and plastic bags. Commenting on the matter, Shadow Minister for the Environment Steven Linares said: “The Opposition has long criticised the way in which the Government has failed to manage the apes. There is a danger that an ape could give a child a scare or that there could be an accident one day. This must be resolved as a matter of urgency.”
