Unite the Union Negotiations

Unite the Union through its Acting Branch Officer Christian Duo has in the preceding months completed various agreements in the Private Sector. A brief summary of the agreements follows:
Serco
Following negotiations with Serco Management, a pay offer was put to the membership by way of Ballot. The membership overwhelmingly accepted a £500 consolidated into the basic salary pay settlement for all grades.
In a separate negotiation a few months ago, Unite also achieved a review of the on-call allowance with an improved weekly rate of £93.80.
Inchcape Shipping
Following extensive negotiations with ISS Management for over 4 month, we achieved in two separate negotiations a new Memorandum of Agreement and a Pay Review for all Grades.
The reason we divided the negotiation into two parts was simply because the pay review in the last 10 years had been a stumbling block when added to the review of the Memorandum of Agreement which was last negotiated way back in 1994.
(a) The new Memorandum of Agreement includes a wide range of improved terms and conditions: Improved Redundancy Compensation, 5 extra days of Annual Leave, improved Sick Leave, Paternity etc.
(b) The Pay Offer was something that our membership felt very strongly about, as they felt that they were underpaid compared to their counterparts in the field. We feel that our members aspirations were fully met with an agreement on a pay settlement as follows:
(c) 15% consolidated increment for the lower earners and 10% consolidated increment for all other employees, this pay deal also included a 4% unconsolidated Bonus across the board.
Gib Oil/ Introplane
We agreed on the 2011 pay review with a cost of living consolidated increment. We also agreed on an improved overtime payment for shift cover.
Morrisons
The membership ratified by way of ballot a pay increase of 2.5% across the board.
Gibtelecom
Gibtelecom will be implementing a 2.5% pay increase as from the 1st August 2011 for Team Leader Grades & below in line with the Gibraltar Government pay increment.
TP Towage
We have been negotiating a new Memorandum of Agreement; we presented a draft copy to both management and our members. We expect to engage sometime in September to conclude this.
Pilot Boat Gibraltar Ltd
Unite has rejected the 3 Year Pay Offer by the company, although we feel our difference is minimum in terms of the offer and members aspirations.
