IRON RODS A MENACE TO BATHERS AT SIDE OF EASTERN BEACH ENTRANCE

At the entrance to Eastern Beach, directly in front of Latino's restaurant, sizable stones strew the shoreline making it difficult for bathers to enter the sea. And if you manage to get past this encumbrance and swim a short distance out to sea, the seabed there is no different to that of Catalan Bay beach before it was cleverly covered with a mantle of imported sand - the sea bottom is covered with chunks of construction material and menacing iron rods (as photos show).

The Independent Daily a couple of weeks back illustrated on its front page a panoramic picture of Eastern Beach with the caption - 'Life's A Summer Beach', it is a pity that, regrettably, it missed the part at the beginning of the beach where the shore overlays with the sizable stones - the discarded construction material is in deeper waters and therefore has to be photographed with an underwater camera. The relevant authority should place signs in the area prohibiting bathing
