"...to forget your party allegiances because these phrases are temporary in nature, ..."

 Dear Sir,

                                           COMMUNITY  CARE  PAYMENTS.

I have already written on this subject but as usual when dealing with crack pot ideas in today’s Gibraltar, one has to be adamant that this issue must be free from political connotations and more to do with the real Gibraltarians i.e. those of us who technically live and reside here.

We have had a very successful institution since 1969 and pardon what follows but if it ain’t broken don’t fix it, in this case it does not require interference but rather funding and when we were challenged in the EU, his reaction was to state, quote ‘  the  government firmly denies and will vehemently resist any suggestion that there is any discrimination on the grounds of nationality in our Social Security system

Now can the CM with hand on heart swear that this will continue to be paid only to residents and  furthermore  that should any legal action be  instituted by  outsiders this can be defended in Court.

CITIZENS OF GIBRALTAR STAND UP AND BE  COUNTED ,  please try, difficult as it is, to forget your party allegiances because these phrases are temporary in nature, Governments come and go but long fought battles to maintain our institutions free from outsides cannot be forfeited by whimsical  pronouncements with neither input from local institutions such as Trade Unions or Professional  Bodies  and less still without proper debate  in Parliament.

Gibraltar has already surrendered  far  too  much  in  recent  years , under the words ‘modern and enhanced ‘ do not allow yourselves to be further conned .

Yours faithfully,

W.L.Chamberland.
