Community Care Payments with Pensions

Dear Sir,

Now we have heard it all, just as if by magic the CM wants to incorporate the Community Care Payments with Pensions.

The most obvious questions he needs to answer and I mean answer now are two,

1.    Will this be now applicable to all those who live abroad, and

2.    Is he confident that come a challenge at the EU, Gibraltar’s position can be legally defended.

The subject matter is too delicate for one single person again without a mandate and from the top of his head to make such a rash pronouncement and once again open up Gibraltar’s institution to manipulation by outsiders, remember the Spaniards took it up at EU level and also the likes of Hain making it known at Westminster that our pensions were a scam.

My only worry, because by nature I am a suspicious person, is that this is not something hidden under the small print in ‘Cordoba’.

You the citizens of Gibraltar who are the beneficiaries of the scheme established in 1969 are the affected party and please this unfortunately cannot be defended on party lines, because at the end of the day all of us, those enjoying it now and all those to come since no question will be asked as to which party you support, the only clear answer is we all defend GIBRALTAR against all adversaries, within and without,
