The Ministry of Financial Services and Gaming has had a busy week representing Gibraltar internationally. The ICE Totally Gaming Conference is the leading annual International Gaming Conference.
This year Gibraltar was represented by the Minister for Gaming Albert Isola, Gambling Commissioner Phill Brear, Regulatory and Licensing teams, and a number of firms and professionals. The event brings together all component parts of the Online Gaming industry and provides a unique opportunity to stay abreast of new developments, engage with Operators and meet prospective new entrants to the Gibraltar market place. The delegation’s successful participation reinforces Gibraltar’s position as the world’s leading online Gaming Jurisdiction.

Minister Isola then travelled to Zurich, where he hosted a highly successful Gibraltar Day lunch for professionals from both Switzerland and Gibraltar. Minister Isola highlighted the key factors that will deliver new areas of growth on the Rock, principally in Insurance, Funds and Asset Management and Private Client activities. Minister Isola returned to London to attend International Petroleum Week as a guest of the International Bunker Industry Association board. CEO and Captain of the Port, Bob Sanguinetti, was also in attendance, and said: ‘This annual, high profile event attracts the senior figures from the oil and gas industry, providing an ideal opportunity for us to market the full range of services we provide at Gibraltar, and to discuss how we can best support the international shipping community’.
Minister for Financial Services and Gaming, Albert Isola, said: ‘This has been an excellent week for Gibraltar across the board. At the ICE Conference I was able to meet with a number of firms who are seeking to be licensed in Gibraltar, and also held further discussions with existing Operators who are considering further expanding their Gibraltar businesses. The Government will now push ahead with a review of Gibraltar’s Gaming proposition, hand in hand with our Operators, which will deliver an updated and innovative framework fit for the further development of this sector over the next 20 years. This success was mirrored in Zurich and I am confident that a significant amount of new business will derive from this focused visit. Furthermore, as Gibraltar is widely considered to be at the forefront of developments in the international bunkering industry, the presence of our large delegation of Government and industry professionals during International Petroleum week is important as we strive to further improve our support to the global shipping community and reinforce the Port’s status as the region’s principal bunker port’.
