Fresh off the back of the historic Bronze medal achieved by the Senior Men’s National squad in the recently hosted FIBA European Small States Championships, the GABBA Junior squads embark on a busy summer of European competition.

First up it’s the turn of the Under 16s with the men leaving today to Yerevan (Armenia) whether they will face hosts Armenia, Andorra and Monaco in the group phase. The Under 16 Women leave on the 5th July to Malta and will form part of Group B together with Albania, Armenia and Moldova.

Both the Under 18 Men and Women leave on the 19th July. The men will be travelling to Shkodra, Albania and will measure themselves against Kosovo, Armenia and Andorra in the Group stage with the women travelling to Peja, Kosova and will face opposition from Armenia, Georgia and the hosts respectively

Minister for Sport, Hon Leslie Bruzon wishes all the teams well whilst also commenting on the success of the Senior’s Men’s squad:

My heartfelt congratulations to the Senior Men’s National Squad on their historic bronze medal. It was an honour to also be asked to present the trophies for the All Star 5, none more so than to our very own Jamie McGrail. It is these sorts of accomplishments that show the younger generations that hard work does produce success. The Junior National squads that will be in competition this summer is what every local basketball player should be aspiring to. Safe travels to them all and the very best of luck. I have no doubts that they will make Gibraltar proud
