The University of Gibraltar welcomed over 70 guests to its campus on Tuesday evening for a free public lecture on the works of Shakespeare.

The talk was delivered by Professor Alastair Niven, fellow of the University of Oxford who spoke about the enduring relevance of Shakespeare’s work and covered his use of language and theme. It was aimed at Gibraltar’s literature students, the wider community and those with an interest in the works of Shakespeare.

Prof Niven was impressed with the turnout and praised the University’s Europa Point Campus by describing it as "the most beautifully located campus he’s visited”.

Professor Niven is an internationally acclaimed researcher, author of four books and over fifty articles on aspects of Commonwealth and post-colonial literature. He is the PhD Supervisor for local University of Gibraltar student Rebecca Gabay.
