As part of its commitment to renewable energies, reduction of carbon emissions, improved energy efficiency and air quality, the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Gibraltar Electricity Authority, announces the launch of the Sale of Power Tender for electricity generated via solar Photo Voltaic (PV) technology.

Solar power is the fastest growing energy technology in the world and one of the least carbon-intensive means of electricity generation. PV’s are a tried and tested technology, proven locally via various pilot projects and are well suited for Gibraltar’s Mediterranean climate.

The tender invites suppliers to bid for a Power Purchase Agreement with the GEA for the sale of power generated through PV on Government-owned buildings.

Related documents, including the Invitation to Tender, Power Purchase Agreement and Framework Agreement, are available under HMGOG’s eProcurement portal https://hmgogsupplier.gibraltar.gov.gi

Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate Change John Cortes said, “This signifies the next step in modernising energy production in Gibraltar and reducing both emissions here and our contribution to the deterioration of the global climate. Taken together with our new LNG plant and several other solar initiatives it shows how far we have come from the dark days of polluting diesel and frequent power cuts, of just as little as seven years ago. We are moving into the future.

Completed Tenders should be submitted electronically via the Procurement eService Portal no later than 12 noon on Friday the 26th of October 2018
