Cadet Force Bands (CFB) part of the British Army Cadet Force has announced its Gibraltar Tour from 8th to 13th July 2018.

'We have been fortunate enough to be hosted by the Band and Drums of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment and we are planning to run a full concert programme over a variety of venues throughout the week which will culminate in a display of band musicians and Corps of drums in Casemates Square on Wednesday 11th July at 10am and a concert in St Michaels Cave on Thursday at 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we hope to have some Gibraltar cadets playing at these concerts.'

The cadets who are drawn from the bands of the 1st Battalion Northern Ireland (Irish Guards) and Oxfordshire (The Rifles) ACF are all between the ages of 12 and 18, and are keen to be able to pass on their passion for military music to their Gibraltarian counterparts. They will be joined by the Corps of Drums from Clwyd and Gwynedd (Royal Welsh) who are fresh from parading at the National Armed Forces day in Llandudno last weekend.

A spokesperson for the Cadets Force Bands said they will be running workshops for the Gibraltar Cadet Force, run by their experienced adult instructors, with the intention of leaving them with a Corps of Drums able to grow and play for the people of Gibraltar. "We are hopeful that this may turn into a bigger project and this will encourage young people to take up music as a hobby and even a career in the future, carrying on the tradition of a band on the Rock."

To this end, all aspects of ACF music will be represented from band musicians, drummers and buglers, even a piper!
