The Ministry for Health, Care & Justice has announced that Dr Ron Coram has been awarded an ‘Honorary Degree’ by Kingston University London and St George’s (University of London) on the 1st May 2018 at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

The ceremony was presided by the Dean of Health, Social Care & Education, Professor Andy Kent, and introduction made by Head of School of Nursing, Dr Julia Gale. The Honorary Degree (Doctor of University) was awarded in recognition of Ron’s ‘outstanding contribution to enterprise, education and employment within Gibraltar.’

Following the announcement, Dr Coram added: “Though I am overjoyed about the award, one must never forget those colleagues and team players that are behind the scenes, that help support, reinforce, underpin and implement services within our community. This silent majority are the real contributors and this award is simply a reflection of the collective effort which I am so extremely proud to be part of.

The Minister of Health, Care & Justice, The Hon. Neil Costa, commented: “I wish to congratulate Ron on his achievement. The Honorary Doctorate is a reflection of the hard work that he has undertaken over many years in his career, which spans nearly 30 years, both in the UK Civil Service and HM Government of Gibraltar. Recently, in his role of Principal of the School of Health Studies, he has been instrumental towards introducing new higher education programmes and training for staff at the GHA. In addition, he undertakes other roles namely Director for Employment and Director for Economic Development. Ron’s expertise and success in his multiple responsibilities emphasises our commitment to education and direct employment in the health services in Gibraltar.
