Her Worship the Mayor, Kaiane Aldorino Lopez GMH, in conjunction with the Department of Education recently held a competition for children between the ages of 8 to 12 to create a character for an environment superhero with the name of EcoRock Kid, and the superhero’s motto was “Lets Rock the Environment”.

There were a total of 40 entries, all of extremely high standard.  The competition was judged by The Hon J Cortes, Her Worship the Mayor, Dr L Torres (Department of the Environment), Ms G Delliapiani (Ecopark) and Mrs B Tapiero (Ecopark).

During the selection, due to the high standards of the work provided by the children, it was decided that there would be two first prizes and two best design awards.

The winning entries were as follows:

• Angelina Avellano – First Prize

• Sarah Wilkie – First Prize

• Catherine Rosado – Best Design

• Mia Hook - Best Design
