Her Majesty The Queen has approved that Sunday 12th November will be observed as Remembrance Sunday. This year, as last year, the Ceremony of Remembrance will be held at the British War Memorial on Line Wall Road, opposite City Hall, at noon.

However, the Government have said it is committed to returning the Ceremony to the area of the Cross of Sacrifice as soon as the airport tunnel is operational.

The Ceremony is organised by the Government of Gibraltar. His Excellency the Governor, in his capacity as Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in Gibraltar, will lead the service.

On his arrival, His Excellency will read the Bidding. This will be followed by the observance of the Two Minutes Silence, the beginning and end of which will be signalled by a saluting gun. The Last Post will be sounded, after which wreaths will be laid and an inter-denominational service will be held. The Ceremony will conclude with the sounding of the Reveille and the singing of the National Anthem.

Medals and decorations may be worn with civilian dress by all those entitled to do so. The medals of deceased Services Personnel may be worn by relatives.

Persons or Organisations, who have pre-ordered the official wreaths from The Royal British Legion (Gibraltar Branch), may collect them from The Convent Courtyard, from 10:00am until noon, with the last day of collection being on Thursday 9th November. The cost of the wreaths is £25.00. Cheques should be made payable to The Gibraltar Poppy Day Appeal Fund.
