Governor’s Meadow First School and Nursery held their own National Day Street Party last Friday 9th September in order to celebrate National Day and raise funds for Calpe House.

The Ministry of Culture provided red and white bunting to decorate the playground whilst pupils and staff dressed in red and white for the day.

The Governor’s Meadow Staff covered the cost of the party so that the £1053,50 proceeds kindly donated by parents and carers went directly towards the Calpe House Fund.

The highlight of the morning was a Street Party held in the Upper School covered playground where pupils enjoyed a selection of delicious treats that included crisps, fairy cakes, wotsits and lashings of ice cream.

As part of celebrating our local history, pupils attended a National Day Interactive Assembly where they learned about the 1967 Referendum and recalled famous local landmarks.
