A group of twelve youngsters and four Youth Workers from Gibraltar Youth Service recently returned from a five day trip to London.

The trip was the climax of months of hard work, fundraising and preparation by the young people and staff alike.

Participants paid a visit to Gibraltar House on the Strand where they were given an insight into the work that the Government of Gibraltar is undertaking at an international level. Also on the itinerary was a visit to Calpe House, where the group were able to see first-hand where the money from their fundraising efforts would go. The group presented Trustee, Beverley Black with a cheque for £912.30, raised by the group through a two day car and bike wash.

The busy schedule also included a visit to a vibrant youth club in East London. Here the youngsters interacted and exchange experiences and cultural values with their counter parts, which proved to be an invaluable experience. This was also an important opportunity for staff of both Gibraltar Youth Service and Spotlight Youth Centre to network, establish professional relationships, and share experiences and best practices.

The leisure activities of this trip allowed the participants to experience the culture and excitement of Central London. Amongst the group’s favourites were the London Eye, the National Science Museum, London Zoo, Dominion Theatre, Camden Market, Madame Tussauds and the River Thames.
