A group of eleven students from Bayside and Westside were briefed by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia this afternoon before they visit the European Union institutions in Brussels later this week.

The visit, which is organised by Albert Danino and Ivan Navas of the Gibraltar in Europe Group, was planned before the EU Referendum had taken place in June.

The group will spend 5 days in Brussels, accompanied by three teachers and the two organisers. This is the third year in which student groups from Gibraltar have made similar visits.

Dr Garcia explained that whatever the outcome of the negotiations between the UK and the EU, the EU would continue to exist: Gibraltar would still need to have a voice in Brussels and would still need to have a relationship with the EU.
