Three Royal Academicians will be arriving in Gibraltar next week to form part of a major landmark exhibition organised by the Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture. This exhibition, entitled ‘Lines and Colours – The Royal Academicians’ will showcase the works of Anne Desmet, Barbara Rae and Ann Christopher.

Since 2012, the Government has being committed to organising an annual major exhibition so as to encourage and foster culture within our community. These landmark exhibitions enable the promotion of our cultural heritage and to celebrate key dates in our cultural identity.

The Minister for Culture, the Hon Steven Linares MP said:

On this occasion, we are delighted to have been able to give this landmark exhibition an international edge, by inviting world renowned Royal Academicians to exhibit in Gibraltar.

This was our commitment in 2014, when GCS, as part of the Government’s cultural development programme, held several meetings with the Royal Academy of Art, to create a partnership that would provide strategic support to the Fine Arts fraternity in Gibraltar. It is the first time that any Royal Academician has exhibited in Gibraltar and the exhibition will support the Government’s policy of showing contemporary art in our country.

The Exhibition will be held at the Gustavo Bacarisa Gallery from Wednesday 22nd June to Friday 15th July 2016.
