Minister Samantha Sacramento, who is in currently in Tel Aviv at the Institute of Travel and Tourism conference, travelled to Jerusalem to meet with Gibraltarian Fleur Hassan Nahoum at the Knesset - the national legislature of Israel - where Mrs Hassan Nahoum was addressing a special committee on Jerusalem issues.

Last week Mrs Hassan Nahoum was inducted as a city councillor in Jerusalem. She is the sister of independent opposition member Marlene Hassan Nahon.

Minister Sacramento and Mrs Hassan Nahoum discussed areas of mutual interest and challenges facing Gibraltar and Jerusalem on women’s rights, equality and social services. Mrs Hassan Nahoum gave Minister Sacramento a tour of the Knesset and introduced her to MK Rachel Azaria, and other members of her political party.

Minister for Tourism, the Hon Samantha Sacramento, said: ‘It was a pleasure to meet with Ms Hassan Nahoum during my visit to Israel for the Institute of Travel and Tourism conference. Fleur is a city councillor in Jerusalem but she is also a Gibraltarian and we therefore share many mutual interests. It is always important to maintain and develop our networks with Gibraltarians around the world who, in their diverse positions and circumstances act as ambassadors for Gibraltar, our politics, culture and people’.
