The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) was represented at the European Bunker Fuel Conference last week in Rotterdam by the CEO and Captain of the Port, Commodore Bob Sanguinetti and Bunkering Superintendent Victor Calderon.

The conference brought together leading industry experts to discuss the current bunker market conditions, and identify the challenges facing the shipping community against a demanding economic backdrop and strengthening environmental requirements. It also gave the Gibraltar team the chance to engage directly with key technical and commercial players from the bunker industry to assist the GPA in further improving its services to ships calling at Gibraltar.

During their time in the Netherlands the Gibraltar team was also hosted by Shell at the Gas Access to Europe (GATE) terminal, an impressive facility where LNG is imported, stored, re-gasified and supplied to the Netherlands and beyond.

Minister for Maritime Services, the Hon Albert Isola stated: “attendance and active participation by the GPA at these high profile events is a fundamental part of our engagement and marketing strategy, reinforcing Gibraltar's outstanding reputation across the global bunker and shipping communities.
