The Minister for Culture, the Hon Steven Linares presented the awards and commenting on the launch of the 2016 Spring Festival, Minister Linares said "‘It gives me a great pleasure to present the full and varied programme of events that comprise this year’s Gibraltar Spring Festival. Most of these events have been organised by or on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, whereas others were planned privately and have chosen to come under the Spring Festival umbrella. Regardless of the method of inception and production, they all share one common purpose in promoting the arts and culture within our community.

By forming part of the Spring Festival these entities ensure that for over seven weeks commencing on the Sunday 1st May with the ‘May Day Celebrations’ and ending on the Saturday 18th June with ‘Calentita’, visitors to the Rock and locals alike, can enjoy an intense period of cultural and other related activities. I wish you all a most enjoyable and entertaining Spring Festival."
