In his capacity as the Leader of the House, the CM has today informed the Speaker that there will be no meetings of the Gibraltar Parliament prior to 23 June.

This follows discussion earlier this week between the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition in the context of the Referendum to determine whether the United Kingdom (and Gibraltar) should remain in the European Union or should leave.

The staff of the Parliament is extremely busy with the arrangements for the Referendum. In addition to this, given the expected increase in campaigning activity before 23 June, Parliamentarians themselves will have more time available to campaign.

It has been agreed that there will be a meeting of Parliament for questions the week after the Referendum, followed shortly thereafter by the Budget session.

The view of the Government and of the Opposition is that the United Kingdom and Gibraltar should remain in the European Union.
